Founded in 1913, the Boston Children's Museum is the second oldest children's museum in the country. It consists of several exhibits with various learning activities which are appropriate for all ages. Activities at the museum allow children to learn through playing and interacting with various objects. Permanent exhibits include Arthur & Friends, Art Studio, Boston Black…A City Connect, The Common, Construction Zone, Countdown to Kindergarten!, The Gallery, Global Gallery, Japanese House, Johnny's Workbench, Kid Power, KidStage, New Balance Climb, Peep's World, PlaySpace, and Science Playground.

If I want to have lunch outside the museum, is there re-entry?
Visitors can leave the museum and return with a hand-stamp. There are outdoor and indoor picnic areas and also food for purchase in the eating areas.
When should I go to avoid the crowds?
The museum is busiest when school is not in session. The quietest times at the museum are weekday afternoons after 1:30 p.m. during the school year.
