Whether you choose a casual beachfront hangout, a chic outdoor terrace, or a fine dining restaurant – there's no better way to savor the summertime in Boston. While the city is known for serving up some of the freshest seafood in the world, you'll find a world of flavors at Boston waterfront restaurants. From innovative Mexican food at Temazcal to award-winning cuisine from the South of France at Miel, discover a symphony of summer flavors – plus gorgeous water views that you'll remember long after dessert is gone.
Legal Harborside: Three-Story Seafood Restaurant with Rooftop DeckLocated in the Seaport District with fantastic views of Boston Harbor, this waterfront restaurant boasts three different levels with three different dining experiences. It's the flagship restaurant for Legal Sea Foods – and it's huge, at 22,000 square feet. On the first floor, you can watch the oyster shuckers work in a casual setting, which features an oyster bar and a market. On the second floor, you'll encounter a fine dining experience along with beautiful waterfront views. But many guests prefer the third floor, a rooftop deck and bar with open-air drinks and eats. There's also a retractable roof, making this a year-round destination.
Temazcal Tequila Cantina: Handcrafted Margaritas & Mexican CuisineSituated right next door to Legal Harborside in Seaport, this waterfront restaurant is part of a small local chain – but don't let that dissuade you. Temazcal offers more than 250 types of tequila, fresh Mexican fine dining, and a luxurious setting – all right on the waterfront. Guests rave about the lobster guacamole, the stuffed jalapeño rellenos, and the poblano stuffed chicken mole. And the margaritas don't disappoint, from the coconut margaritas to the citrusy palomas and blackberry mojitos. You can also share a pitcher of sangria, which comes in three different colors: red, blush, or white. Sipping a glass on the right-on-the-waterfront terrace is the perfect way to enjoy a sunny summer afternoon.
Kelly's Roast Beef: A Boston Institution on Revere BeachHead north for a beachfront rendezvous at a local favorite that's known for mouthwatering roast beef sandwiches, fried seafood, clam chowder, and fresh lobster rolls – classic New England comfort food. Beachfront dining in Boston doesn't get any better than this – you can soak in the gorgeous views and sunny seaside atmosphere as you munch on your fried scallops or pastrami sandwiches. Don't expect anything fancy here, just straight-up beachside treats. Kelly's is open late, until 1:00 a.m. on school nights and until 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The Barking Crab: Picnic Tables Right on the WaterfrontLively and loud, this much-loved hangout lets you sit right on the water's edge while you dig into a bright red lobster dinner or bucket of fried clams. With a party atmosphere and picnic tables galore, the landmark Seaport restaurant is just across the bridge (Seaport Boulevard) from our hotel. It bills itself as a "seafood shack" and features lobster trap "chandeliers" as decor – plus buckets of peel-and-eat shrimp that pair perfectly with a Boston craft beer. Although it gets crowded in the summer, the location right on Boston Harbor (and the views!) make The Barking Crab well worth the wait.
Miel Brasserie: A Taste of the South of France Al Fresco on the WaterfrontIndulge in inspired organic fare at Boston's first Provence-themed brasserie, Miel. Named after the French word for honey, Miel celebrates the flavors of the Côte d'Azur region of southern France, a verdant wonderland of cherry trees, golden sunflowers, and endless fields of purple lavender flowers. Executive Chef Didier Montarou transforms the region's intoxicating flavors into unforgettable culinary adventures: olive oil, ripe tomatoes, fresh vegetables, herbs, just-caught seafood, and of course – honey. A Certified Green Restaurant®, Miel features a charming indoor dining room as well as an outdoor terrace overlooking the water. Miel is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offers an exquisite Sunday brunch as well. Some of our favorite treats on the menu include:
- Scallops St. Jacques: Broiled Georges Bank Jumbo Scallops with Black Truffle Potato Puree, Roasted Garlic, and Lemon Breadcrumbs
- Shrimp Provencal Five Cheese Tortellini with Garlic Confit, Cherry Tomato, Aged Parmesan, and Basil
- Summer Squash & Turmeric Soup: Fresh Turmeric, Coconut Milk, Cayenne, and Cilantro
- Peach & Burrata Panzanella Salad: Grilled and Marinated Peaches, Fresh Burrata, Maple Bacon, Sour Dough Bread, Bibb Lettuce, Basil, and Honey Balsamic Dressing
