Over 11,000 athletes will compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston this October 21-22. It's the world's largest two-day rowing event, and tens of thousands of sports fans turn out to watch the exciting races on the Charles River. Over 1,600 boats will compete in 61 events at this adrenaline-fueled competition.
Head of the Charles Regatta: The Course
Rowing teams will race for three miles, starting near the Charles River Basin at Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse and finishing just after the Eliot Bridge and before Northeastern University's Henderson Boathouse. Passing under six bridges, the course is famous for its difficulty for teams to complete without a penalty.
