Boston Children's Museum: Discovery, Play & Exploration

Redefining the power of play, the Boston Children's Museum was founded by the Science Teachers' Bureau in 1913, and remains today as the second oldest children's museum of its kind. Each exhibit and program encourages hands-on engagement and learning through interactive activities, experiences and exploration in play in order to spark curiosity. Perfect for children of all ages, each exhibit focuses on science, culture, health & fitness, the environment and humanities. Noteworthy attractions include, Countdown to Kindergarten, PlaySpace, Peep's World, New Balance Foundation Climb, and a art studio filled with supplies to keep kids thoroughly entertained for hours. This jam-packed fun zone is perfect for birthday parties and special events in Boston or a great rainy day activity.

    There are family restrooms located on each floor that are equipped with baby changing tables. Nursing is allowed anywhere in the museum, but there is a private nursing area in the PlaySpace exhibit on the 2nd floor for those needing some privacy.
  • What Dining Is Available At The Boston Children's Museum?

    The Boston Children's Museum has a couple of dining options on-site including, Hood Milk Bottle and Au Bon Pain. Guests are also welcome to bring their own food for an outdoor or indoor picnic in the museum’s lunch room or outside during the summer months.
