Beautiful hotel with great staff, amenities, and location, location, location!
My husband and kids surprised me with a weekend trip to Boston and chose the InterContinental. The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located within walking distance (or a short Uber ride) to many great area activities and attractions. The hotel itself is gorgeous and very clean and the staff were all so nice and accommodating. They even recommended a great local attraction that we would have completely missed otherwise but it ended up being one of our favorite activities. My husband let it slip at check-in that the trip was birthday surprise for me and, lo and behold, we came back to our room to find a bottle a champagne and a delicious dessert - they definitely went above and beyond to make my weekend even more special
My son and I arrived at the hotel in September 2018 for a 2 night stay at the start of our short trip around New England. The hotel was fantastic and in a very good location close to the waterfront and only a few minutes walk to the financial district and the starting point for the freedom trail. The rooms were luxurious with large bathrooms. The bar area was very atmospheric although drinks were very expensive. Recommended for a bit of luxury in Boston
Centrally located hotel minutes ro the waterfront, financial district, north end and Chinatown. The accommodations are luxurious. I didn't want to get ot of bed! The bars and restaurants within the hotel are good too! Check in was easy as well
Beware if you book a club room, you may not be getting one on the club floor
Every year since 2015, my husband and I have made a reservation for a short getaway at the Intercontinental in Boston during a winter weekend. We have always been very happy with the service, the rooms, and the staff. This year, we booked a room on Nov 29, 2018 for a check-in on February 16th, 2019. Three days before check-in, I called to ask to change the credit card on my room, and to request a mini fridge. After the call, when I looked online, my room was no longer listed as a club room. I immediately called IHG services, and had to spend over an hour on the phone and on hold to be told that my reservation was all set. I decided to double-check online, and this time, my reservation showed as cancelled. At that point, I had my husband call the hotel. He was told by the reservations department there that the reservation had indeed been cancelled by accident. When he tried to provide the case number, he was transferred to guest services. Guest services also showed that the reservation was cancelled, and asked my husband to hold. He was then transferred to Inilta. She indicated that the club floor had been 'on buyout' for the last couple of months, and that our room was on the 11th floor, but would still have club lounge access. As we had reserved in November, and we had reserved a club room, we expected to be on the club floor. However, Inilta said that a club room reservation does not guarantee that the room is on the club floor. This is extremely upsetting for both my husband and me. We booked our stay well in advance, and at no time during the reservation process did anyone indicate that our room was not on the club floor. It is reasonable to expect that a club room would be on the club floor. At this point, we are days away from our usually enjoyable getaway and the hotel has offered zero compensation for the mix up and accidental cancellation. We are both very unhappy with the service IHG has provided. Not only has there been a great deal of confusion and uncertainty over whether the reservation still existed, but it appears that we have been downgraded with no compensation. Although ICB associate insists that this is not a downgrade, we would not have made this booking if we knew it was not on the club floor
I have high expectations, but I am not a complainer. The hotel was highly recommended to us, and we were both disappointed. It was not up to the luxury hotel that we are accustomed to. While the room was quite large, the bathroom was not. The food at the bar was decent. Nice area to walk around
